Justice court has jurisdiction in all civil cases involving amounts of $3500.00 or less. The Justice Court Department manages traffic tickets issued by the State Highway Patrol and the Pike County Sheriff’s Department. The Public Service Commission, Mississippi Department of Transportation, and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife and Fisheries tickets are resolved in this court, as well. Justice court hears all matters from D.U.I.’s to misdemeanor criminal cases. Our Judges also perform wedding ceremonies.

County/Youth Court

The county court have exclusive jurisdiction of matters involving eminent domain, partition of personal property, unlawful entry and detainer, and juvenile matters. County courts have concurrent jurisdiction with justice courts in all matters civil and criminal, and concurrent jurisdiction with circuit and chancery courts in all matters of law and equity up to $200,000. They may also adjudicate certain noncapital felony cases transferred by the circuit court.
